Heather Evans, MD, MS

Principal Investigator

  • Twitter - Grey Circle

Vice Chair of Clinical Research and Applied Informatics, Professor, Department of Surgery at Medical University of South Carolina

Heather has been studying surgical infections since 1999, and as a faculty member in the Department of Surgery at the University of Washington, she developed a novel line of research inquiry with a multidisciplinary team, investigating the role of mobile health interventions for the early detection and treatment of surgical site infections. Together with co-PI Bill Lober, Heather has created mPOWEr, the mobile Post-Operative Wound Evaluator, a mHealth platform with a smartphone app for patients and a web-based dashboard for providers to facilitate improved post-discharge data sharing of surgical wound symptoms and wound photography.
