This HTA and draft recommendations were prepared by the project team with guidance and feedback provided by the Scientific Board. This document was completed at the close of Year 1 of the two-year ASSIST project. Refinement of this document will continue during Year 2. The draft HTA and recommendations will be made available for public comment through the ASSIST project website between January 1 and February 28, 2019. A final draft is expected to be available in 2019.

Dissemination Activities

Dissemination of HTA products and recommendations will target surgeons; nurses, physician assistants, and advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNPs) who support surgical practices; infection preventionists; data scientists; quality officers; and hospital administrators. The ASSIST team and scientific board presented work to date and findings in a panel session at ACS Quality and Safety Conference, July 2018, and the ACS Clinical Congress, October 2018. Future conference presentations include:

  • Symposium at Surgical Infection Society annual meeting, May 2019

  • Presentation at ACS Quality and Safety Conference, July 2019

Additional plans for dissemination include publishing the proceedings of the PSAG workshop, proceedings from the symposium at SIS 2019, and an HTA report executive summary in Surgical Infections. The HTA report is also planned to be available on the SIS website in November 2019.
